Jackie was born September 27, 1946, in Charleston, S.C., a daughter of the late Isaac Aaron “Dutch” Brunson and Kathleen Josey Brunson. She married the love of her life, Adlai Lucas, moved to Columbia, S.C. in 1977, in 2001 her husband went to be with the Lord. Prior to her marriage, she worked several years at the Berkeley County Hospital as an X-Ray Technician. After Adlai’s death she returned home to Jamestown and became very active in her church and community. She was a faithful member of the Jamestown Baptist Church, serving in Prayer Ministry, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and helping with VBS. She also had been Chaplain for the 29453 Community Neighborhood Watch.
Jackie will be forever remembered for her “Mama’s Melt in Your Mouth” Pound Cakes, which traveled across the miles and often showed up as a surprise on someone’s doorstep. Jackie was a loyal friend who always took the time to listen, encourage, pray and lend a helping hand. She also enjoyed reading and sending out cards. But Jackie’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Jackie was passionate about praying for others. She served as a Prayer Warrior for her home church and was also a member the Berkeley Baptist Ladies Tuesday Morning Prayer Group.
