Inez Metts Petracca, 86, of Pinopolis, SC went home to be with her Heavenly Father and her beloved Bob on December 12, 2023 after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Petracca, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage prior to his death December 19, 2019.
Inez was a lifelong resident of Berkeley County and was the daughter of Oliver Shug Metts and Eunice Hill Metts. She is survived by her daughter Susan Inez Petracca Murtagh and her husband Dan as well as many nieces and nephews. Surviving siblings are Hazel Thigpen, Juanita Stone, J. Wayne Varner, Dennis Hill and Faye Davis. She was predeceased by Dempsey O. Metts, Clyde R. Metts, Bobby L. Metts, Mack G. Hill, Vertis J. Hill, Jr., James D. Hill and Alma Gann.
Inez also leaves her most loyal and loving friend Eunice O. Reardon.
Mrs. Petracca graduated from Berkeley High School and Palmer Business College and enjoyed her entire career as a legal secretary working primarily for the law firm of Rembert C. Dennis and R. Markley Dennis, Sr. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Moncks Corner and a past member of the Town and Village Garden Club.
Inez never met a stranger. She had a pleasant, humorous and colorful personality and was loved by all who knew her. Her smile was infectious. She was generous, compassionate and especially fond of children.
She loved to travel with her family and visited many European countries. She and Bob visited almost every state in the United States and toured much of Canada. Inez enjoyed life as a homemaker, devoted wife and mother and derived great pleasure in spending time with family, friends and loved ones.
One of her greatest joys was music, especially rock and roll, gospel and country. She truly loved rock and roll and dancing to music of the 50’s. In her last years she spent many hours listening to The Gaithers, Daniel O’Donnell, Jerry Lee Lewis and others. She continued to dance until the very end, even dancing in the bed to her therapists’ delight.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Inez’s great love for children the family suggests memorials be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
All services for Mrs. Petracca will be private and provided by Russell Funeral Chapel of Moncks Corner.
