Howard James Gage, USAF Retired, of North Charleston, husband of Kathleen O’Shea Gage, passed away Wednesday evening, February 25, 2015.
Major Gage was born January 1, 1939, in Naomi, PA, son of Orville James Gage and Marie Sasenko Gage.
He was a 1960 graduate of the Citadel and received his MBA from UCLA. During his military career he served multiple tours in Southeast Asia, Korea, Germany, The United Kingdom and throughout the U.S. and had flown over 20K flight hours. Known to be an avid golfer, he was a very generous man, having worked with many children’s homes and homeless shelters.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter- Dianne Lamb of Summerville; 3 sons- James O. Gage and his wife, Lora, of Great Falls, S.C.; William H. Gage and his wife, Karen, of Springfield, MA.; Daniel K. Gage and his wife, Leslie, of Irmo, S.C.; 7 grandchildren- James D. Gage and his wife, Melinda; Bruce Wells; Heather Gage; Eric Gage; Christopher Gage; Ashley Gage; Grace Gage; one great grandchild- Nyah Furman. He was predeceased by a brother Dwight “Skippy” Odom.
His memorial service will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Saturday February 28, 2015, at 6 o’clock in the evening. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 o’clock until the hour of service at 6 o’clock Saturday. Directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner.
