Helen Burnett Walker, 84, of Oakley, wife of Jewell Walker, passed away Tuesday evening, August 5, 2014 in a Charleston hospital.
Mrs. Walker was born October 10, 1929, in Blount County, Alabama, the daughter of Dewey Burnett and Letha Painter Burnett.
She graduated as valedictorian of her senior class at Walnut Grove High School. Mrs. Walker served as an administrative assistant in the Berkeley County School System for 21 years and to show her love and support of Berkeley High School, she wore blue and gold every Friday,which she still continued. A member of First Christian Church, she belonged to the Edna Jones Ladies Circle and the Senior Sunday School Class. She was lovingly known for her wit and humor by all who knew her.
Surviving in addition to her devoted husband of 61 years, are; her daughter – Carmen L. Walker of Miami, Fl.; son- Blair G. Walker and his wife, Jenny, of Sharpsburg, Ga.; brother-Bill Burnett and his wife, Peggy, of Gadsden Al.; sister-Stella Blenner and her husband, Burt, of Marietta, Ga.; 2 grandsons- Seth Walker and his wife, Anna, of Atlanta, Ga.; Jacob Walker of Sharpsburg, Ga. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Helen was predeceased by a son Keith Walker.
Her funeral service will be held in First Christian Church of Moncks Corner, Saturday afternoon, August 9 2014, at 1 o’clock. Interment will follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens , directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL of Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel between 6 and 8 o’clock Friday evening.
