Helen McNinch Bang, 73, of Moncks Corner, wife of Byron Bang, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020.
Helen was born October 9, 1946 in Vidalia Georgia, a daughter of Arnold Amzi McNinch, Ruby Stack McNinch Howard and step father- James C. "JC" Howard.
A graduate of Berkeley High School, Helen went on to attend Cosmetology School, she also worked as a waitress at Howard's Restaurant, owned at the time by her family. She was later employed as a Teacher’s Assistant at Berkeley and Whitesville Elementary Schools and for Greenwood Development as a flower bed designer. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Helen enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She attended First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School when her children were young. Helen loved reading, being outdoors, gardening, the ocean and watching the hummingbirds. She will be sadly missed.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children- Harry Dale Austin, Jr. and his wife, Terri, of Moncks Corner; Tracy Austin Branham and her husband, William, of Isle of Palms; Jennifer Austin Driggers and her husband, Danny, of Moncks Corner; a brother- Albert Leon McNinch of Marietta, SC; grandchildren- John W. Cabaniss, IV “Jon Jon”; Jared E. Cabaniss; Hannah G. Austin; Charity Hope Austin; Madison H. Driggers; Daniel A. Driggers and Rylie G. Driggers. In addition to her parents, Helen is predeceased by a step sister- Bea Howard Craven and her step father- James C. "JC" Howard.
A memorial service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Saturday afternoon, March 7, 2020 at 1 o’clock. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12 o’clock until the hour of service.
