Heidi (Vaughn) Buxton

July 28, 1960 — August 22, 2023

Heidi Buxton lost her decade long battle with COPD on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. She passed away peacefully at her home.

Heidi had a smile that would brighten any room. She was well known in the community and her favorite activity was spending time with her family and friends. She was always cheerful and seldom complained, even while bedridden for her last years.

For many years, Heidi was an Administrator for COPD Information and Support, an international group created to assist victims of COPD. During her struggle, Heidi became very knowledgeable about dealing with the treatments and day to day effects of the disease, and she shared that knowledge with hundreds of others over the years.

Heidi was born in Augsburg, Germany. It was in Bavaria as a child where she developed her deep love for the snow and the mountains. There was always a Ken Jenkins Smoky Mountain calendar on her wall and she spent many happy days in Cherokee and the surrounding areas with her family.

Heidi loved her animals and she had beautiful Belgian sheepdogs for the last 25 or 30 years. They were a very important part of her life.

Surviving are her husband- Rick Buxton, of Bonneau: her father- Jerry Vaughn, of Moncks Corner: two sons- Christopher Maxwell and his wife Kelly, of Tallahassee, Fl. and Curtis L."Lucas"Shelton and his wife Maggie, of Bonneau: Three grandchildren- Cadden Maxwell, Liliana Maxwell and Clea Shelton: and three brothers- Deitvald Vaughn, of Bamberg, Winnie Vaughn and his wife Debbie, of Tega Cay and Lee Vaughn and his wife Gina, of Barnwell.

Heidi was a devout Christian and attended Macedonia Christian Church when she was able. She loved and admired Pastor Bradberry and spoke highly of him often.

Her suffering has ended and she is now at peace with her Lord Jesus Christ.
