Harry R. Thomas, 71, of Bethera, U. S. Forestry Service Timber Marketing Supervisor for 30 years, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at his home. He was first married to the late Peggy Benton Thomas and is the husband of Bonnie Johnson Thomas.
Harry was born May 13, 1939, in Berkeley County, the son of Alfred Lester Thomas and Bertie Morris Thomas.
A member of Providence Baptist Church and a retired board member of Macedonia Fire Department, Harry was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Bonnie J. Thomas, are 2 sons – Bryon Thomas and his wife, Pam, of Bethera; and Russell “Rusty” Thomas and his wife, Shannon, of Cordesville; a stepdaughter – Sheila Sumner and her husband, David, of Awendaw; 2 sisters – Juanita Lance of Hendersonville, N.C.; and Shirley Gowdy and her husband, Lee, of Lexington; 3 brothers – Ralph R. Thomas and his wife, Patricia, of North Charleston; Donnie W. Thomas and his wife, M.Faye,; and Daniel D. Thomas and his wife, Sherry, both of Huger; 2 grandsons – Ian and Aaron Thomas; and a step-granddaughter-Kimberly Lambert.
His funeral service was held in Providence Baptist Church, Saturday afternoon, April 2, 2011 at 2 o’clock. Interment followed in Berea Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner.
