Glenn H. Pipkin., 76, of Jamestown, a farmer, and husband of Gloria Brunson Pipkin, died Tuesday in a Charleston hospital.
Glenn was born July 15, 1935, in Elloree, the son of George E. Pipkin and Lena R. Felkel Pipkin.
He was a graduate of Macedonia High School and attended University of S.C. He served as a Deacon of Jamestown Baptist Church. Glenn was a member of Harpers Masonic Lodge in Andrews; a member and Past Patron of Eastern Star Chapter 195; served as Assistant Chief of Jamestown Rural Fire Department for 44 years; a member of Berkeley County Conservation Society; member of Farm Bureau; worked with U.S. Forestry Service in Smoke Control. He retired from ASCS as a Field Supervisor and had been named Farmer of the Year.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son – Glenn H. Pipkin II of Columbia; 2 aunts – Blanche Stoudemire of Lone Star; and Frances C. Felkel of Elloree; two cousins – Roy P. Pipkin and Jimmie K. Murray of Jamestown; and several special nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held in Jamestown Baptist Church, Friday morning, August 5, 2011, at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in the Brunson Family Cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL Thursday evening, August 4, 2011, between 6 and 8 o’clock, and at the church Friday morning for one hour prior to the service.
