Franklin Delano “Deedle” Gaskins, 77, of Lebanon, died in a Charleston hospital September 24, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Gaskins was born on June 18, 1934, in Bethera, son of Marklin Daniel Gaskins and Juanita Brandon Gaskins.
He was the retired owner-operator of Berkeley Exterminating Company and original owner of Gaskins Brothers Drywall.
A graduate of Macedonia High School, he was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, and was a former member of Charleston Pest Control Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Salisbury Gaskins, friend and loving companion for almost 52 years;
his sons – Ricky and Rodney Gaskins of Lebanon; granddaughter – Leanne Gaskins; brother – Mederia Gaskins and his wife, Hermine, of Moncks Corner; two sisters – Marjorie Wing and her husband, Don, of Bethera; and Juanita Thames and her husband, William, also of Bethera. He was predeceased by a sister – Martha Lugar and a brother, Clyde Gaskins.
His funeral service will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Tuesday morning, September 27, 2011, at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel between 6 and 8 o’clock Monday evening.
