Frank Boyd Williams, Jr

Frank Boyd Williams, Jr.,90, U.S. Navy, Retired, of Moncks Corner, husband of Caroline Youmans Whitlock Williams, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at Veterans Victory House, Walterboro, S.C.

Mr. Williams was born May 28, 1923, at Newcomb, TN, the son of Frank Boyd Williams, Sr. and Elva Allen Williams.

He was a a retired Chief Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and in Korea. He was stationed aboard the USS HOBSON at the time that it was accidentally struck and destroyed by the USS WASP, and he then later served onboard the USS WASP. He was a retired Refrigeration Mechanic from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. MMC Williams was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, National Association of Destroyer Veterans, USS Hobson Memorial Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9509, and American Legion Post 166 Goose Creek.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 daughters – Evelyn Williams Finn and her husband, Bill, of Moncks Corner; Beverly Williams of Union Grove, AL; and Patricia McCary and her husband, Rick, of Flintsville, TN; 3 sons – Richard Gary Williams and his wife, Elaine, of White Oak, NC; Charles E. Williams and his wife, Cathy, of Pleasant Prairie, WI; and Howard Dennis Williams and his wife, Gail, of Huntsville, AL: 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 brothers – Al Williams and his wife, Betty, of Burnsville, NC: and Roger Williams of W. Palm Beach, FL;4 stepsons – Bruce Whitlock and his wife, Alice, of Macedonia; Mark Whitlock and his wife, Elizabeth, of Mauldin; Lance Whitlock and his wife, Joan, of Rincon, GA; and Paul W. Whitlock, Sr., and his wife, Sharon, of Cabot, AR; 8 step grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren.

Mr. Williams funeral service will be held in Rehoboth United Methodist Church in MacBeth on Saturday afternoon, January 4, 2014, at 2 o’clock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
