Frances Arnold Harvey

Frances A. Harvey, 90, of Pinopolis, widow of Harold Huxford Harvey, Jr. passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Harvey was born July 4, 1924, in Crawford Ga., a daughter of Percy Allen Arnold, Sr. and Minnie Grace Bogg Arnold.

As a 1942 graduate of Meson Academy in Lexington, Ga., she played basketball as a guard. She was selected to be on the All Star basketball team which won 4 state championships in 1939-1942. After graduation she attended Toccoa Technical School for radio technician training and later worked on World War II aircraft in California. She was later co-owner and manager of Harvey's 5 & 10 in Moncks Corner.

She and Harold were married on September 20, 1946. They were blessed with their four children- a daughter – Linda Harvey Harrell and her husband, Bobby, of Yemassee ; 3 sons– Harold H. Harvey III, and his wife, Naomi; Joseph A. Harvey and his wife, Gwen; Robert M. Harvey and his wife, Sharon, all of Moncks Corner; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Jean Bassett, of Sanford NC.

Her funeral service will be held in RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Thursday morning September 11, 2014, at 11 o’clock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home
between 6 and 8 o’clock Wednesday evening September 10, 2014. Interment will be in St. John’s Baptist Church Cemetery directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL.
