Flossie Shuler Stewart

Flossie Shuler Stewart, 94, of Jamestown, widow of Vernon L. Stewart, Sr., passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Mrs. Flossie was born May 29, 1922, in Berkeley County, a daughter of Ira “Maxie” Shuler and Ida Brinson Shuler.

She was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church and the Jamestown Ladies Quilting Club. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed quilting, reading and was an exemplary southern cook.

Surviving are a son- Vernon L. Stewart, Jr. and his wife, Shirley, of Georgetown; daughters- Dorothy S. Thornley and her husband Commer, of Clinton, Maryland; Terri S. Edens and her husband, Joey, of Moncks Corner; 7 grandchildren- Jamey Stewart and his wife, Carlette; Pam S. Wedgeworth and her husband, Buddy; Pamela Price; Marian Cherry and her husband, Bill; Connie Warasila and her husband, Peter; Steven Thornley and his wife, Jill; Jay Edens; 11 great grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Lake Moultrie Nursing Center Activity Fund, P. O. Box 1108, St. Stephen, S.C. 29479. They would also like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Lake Moultrie Nursing Facility and Joan Wyndham of Hospice of Charleston, for their love and care.

Her graveside funeral service will be held in St. James United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jamestown, at 11:30 Monday morning, August 1, 2016, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel.
