Mercer Farrell “Bunk” Singletary, 84, of Pinopolis, retired owner of Singletary Insurance Company, widower of Josephine “Josie” Risher Singletary, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Farrell was born September 15, 1932, in Cross, South Carolina, a son of the late Rennie Middleton Singletary and Williewiete “Miss Bill” Godfrey Singletary.
He was a member of the Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He had also served as a past Chairman for the Berkeley County Elections Commission.
Surviving are a daughter- Donna Singletary Swift and her husband, Chris, of Denver, Colorado; two sons- Brian F. Singletary and his wife, Cindy, of Cross and Blaine G. Singletary of Pinopolis; seven grandchildren- Brandon Singletary and his wife, Jennifer; Dabney Singletary; Clancy Swift; Riley Swift; Tayler Singletary and her partner, Drew; Nicholas Singletary and Madison Singletary; three great grandchildren- Braedon Singletary; TJ Hilton and Dalton White. He was predeceased by a brother- Rennie “Sonny” Middleton Singletary, Jr. and two sisters-Dorothy Singletary Sams and Allie Singletary Jones.
His funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2017, at 2 o’clock. Interment will follow in Black Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cross. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 1 o’clock until the hour of service.
The family would like to thank the staff of Trident Hospital and LifeCare Center of Charleston for their loving care and amazing support.
