Ellen Mae Roper Tolbert, 63, of Jamestown, wife of Reverend Michael Eugene Tolbert, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
Ellen was born on July 3, 1958, in High Point, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Paul Buster Roper and Vera Alice Roper.
She was a nurse for Pruitt Health of Moncks Corner, where she was incredibly devoted to caring for each and every one of her residents. A giver by nature, she followed her heart in providing each person with love just as Jesus would. These were her very words each day before going to work.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 34 years are two daughters- Felisha Davidson, and Erica Nole and her husband, Richard of Jamestown; one son- Aaron Tolbert and his wife, Ciji of Lexington, South Carolina; one brother- Paul Buster Roper, Jr. and his wife, Janice of Thomasville, North Carolina; two sisters- Lois Shields and her husband, Kenneth of Pinnacle, North Carolina, and Hope Tinnes and her husband, Gary of Winston- Salem, North Carolina; nine grandchildren- Vanessa Skipper, Michael Skipper, Renayjah Nole, Kama Bolling, Amber Tolbert, Michael Tolbert, Ian Tolbert, James Tolbert, and Dakota Johnson; two great-grandchildren- Axel Johnson and Ayrabella Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Eddie Skipper, and her brother, Donald Roper.
Her funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Saturday afternoon, April 2, 2022, at 1 o’clock. Interment will follow at Halfway Creek Cemetery in Shulerville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 o’clock until the hour of service.
