Elizabeth Francisca Srech Murphy, 86, of Moncks Corner, widow of Adam Murphy, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in a North Charleston hospital.
Mrs. Murphy was born May 5, 1927, in Hoensbroek, Holland, daughter of Ignatius Srech and Helene Rutlkowski Srech.
She was a former teachers’ assistant at Macedonia Middle and High Schools and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Her favorite pastime was bowling.
Surviving are two daughters – Dinah Gretsch and her husband, Fred, of Pooler, GA; and Missy Almarode and her husband, Mark, of Maryville, TN; two sons – Billy Murphy and his wife, Yan, of Stockbridge, GA;and Michael Murphy and his wife, Pam, of Moncks Corner; a brother – Peter Srech and his wife, Helga, of Dusseldorf, Germany; eight grandchildren – Marlena Thomas; Matthew Murphy; Morgan Glass; Brittany Murphy; Olivia Murphy; Davis Murphy; Kelvin Murphy; and Heather Roller; 5 great grandchildren; and her very special friend – Patsy Stone.
She was predeceased by a son – Arthur Murphy.
A funeral service in her honor will be held at Macedonia Christian Church at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2014. Interment will follow in Hood’s Chapel Cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at Macedonia Christian Church for one hour prior to the service, 2 – 3 PM.
