Elizabeth Raines Bailey

Elizabeth Raines Bailey, 88, of Moncks Corner, widow of Reverend Ernest Bailey, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013.

Mrs. Bailey was born May 11, 1925, in Columbia, S.C., the daughter of Loyd William Raines and Elizabeth Gardner Raines.

She received her Bachelor's Degree from Winthrop College and her Master's Degree in English from the Citadel. She taught English at Berkeley High School for many years, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter - Gayle Bailey of Moncks Corner; her son - William E. "Biff" Bailey and his wife, Ellen, of Irmo; her sister - Jane R. Waitt and her husband, Bernett, of Summerville; 2 grandchildren - Jonathan Ernest Bailey and Jason Coleman Bailey.

The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Tracey Frank and Darlene Murphy.

The funeral service honoring Mrs. Bailey's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2013, at 3 o'clock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, MONCKS CORNER. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
