Edward Keenan Dean

Edward Keenan Dean, known affectionately as Eddie, departed this earth on March 7th, 2025, at the age of 79, in Charleston, S.C. Born on June 21, 1945, in Lancaster, S.C., he was the beloved son of the late William Edward Dean and Edith Gay Dean.

A proud U.S. Navy Veteran, Eddie dedicated many years to Santee Cooper as a transportation mechanic after his service, applying his skilled hands as a carpenter and brick mason. His work ethic was matched only by his capacity to love and his unwavering commitment to family and community. He loved helping his friends and family. If he saw a need he was there to lend a helping hand.

He leaves behind his cherished wife of 54 years, Peggy Ann Marshall Dean; his loving daughters, Tara Dean Rogers(Linn), Alesha Dean(Darryl); his devoted son, Keenan Dean(Marie); and his former son-in-law and friend, Chad Stone. He was the proud grandfather to Josh, Lindy, Timber, Kayla, Harry, Buster, June, and James, and a doting great-grandfather to Jaxson, Anzalee, Cooper, Briar, and Brooke. Also included surviving are many nieces and nephews. His brothers, Dwayne Dean and Danny Dean, will remember Edward's spirit, now rejoined with their brothers Michael, Randy, and Francis Dean, who predeceased him.

Eddie was the kind of man who never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. He so enjoyed engaging with fellow campers at Somerset, sharing stories and laughter. His passions included fishing, gardening, and cooking - his hands never idle, his presence a source of warmth and guidance. His deep faith and love for his church, Santee Circle Community Church, were evident in his everyday actions.
