Durell H. "Sparky" Herndon

DuRell “Sparky” Herndon, 91, of Moncks Corner, widower of Phyliss Totten Herndon, passed away January 27, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Herndon was born November 11, 1923, in Canton, North Carolina, son of George Washington Herndon and Verma Hooker Herndon.

He was retired US Coast Guard and Veteran of WWII and the Korean War.

Surviving are sons- Pearce Herndon and his wife, Jeanette, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl.; Robert Herndon and his wife, Vicki, of Greenville, N.C.; Michael Herndon and his wife, Frieda, of Moncks Corner; daughters- Debbie McCale and her husband, Mike, of Moncks Corner and Dottie Snyder and her husband, Tom Williams of N.H.; 20 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; 10 Great Great Grandchildren Aunt Louise Herndon of Canton N.C.; cousin Alonzo Hooker. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Norburn Herndon and George Everett Herndon, and a sister, Tommy Herndon Hipps.

A memorial service will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, MONCKS CORNER, Saturday afternoon, February 14, 2015, at 3 o'clock.
