Dorothy "Buddy" (Barber) Bonds

March 13, 1930 — August 10, 2022

Dorothy “Buddy” Barber Bonds, 92, of Statesboro, GA, formerly of Moncks Corner, widow of William Louis Bonds, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

Buddy was born March 13, 1930, in Clover, SC, daughter of Dr. Jay O. Barber, Jr. and Winnie Sifford Barber.  A kind, loving, and generous person she was a wonderful wife and mother, and the best grandmother a grandchild could ask for.

Buddy received her undergraduate degree from Erskine College where she was a Kapa Kapa Iota Sorority member and later received a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from The Citadel. A retiree of Berkeley County School District, she taught Algebra at Berkeley High School for 28 years.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Moncks Corner/Pinopolis Book Club, and spent countless hours volunteering with Relay for Life. Buddy enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time outdoors, and traveling abroad and throughout the U.S.  She will be fondly remembered by her family, friends, and students.

Mrs. Bonds is survived by her three grandchildren- Barrett and Brice Bonds of Statesboro, GA; Aubrey Bonds of LaGrange, GA; daughter-in-law- Lori Ragsdale Bonds of Swainsboro, GA; a special niece- Julia Cashion Johnson, and her husband, Steve of Statesville, NC; two brothers-in-law- Joe Bonds of Fort Mill, SC; Lloyd Bonds and his wife, Jackie of Pamplico, SC; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, William Louis Bonds, Jr., daughter, Sandra Bonds Pridemore, sister, Elizabeth Barber Cashion, and brother-in-law, John Roy Bonds.

Her graveside service will be held at Biggin Cemetery, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11 o’clock, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL of Moncks Corner.
