Dorothy Britton Lambert, 87, of West Columbia, formerly of Charleston, retired cashier with Piggly Wiggly, died Sunday, November 27, 2011, in a West Columbia nursing home.
Mrs. Lambert was born July 1, 1924, in Charleston, the daughter of George McKenzie Britton and Maude Louise Ford Britton.
Surviving are seven daughters – Diane Berry and her husband, Robert, of Baton Rouge, LA; Sylvia Dodd and her husband, Norman, of Prescott, AZ; Linda Ehli and her husband, Alan, of Minneapolis, MN; Colleen Walker of Walterboro; Carol Risher and her husband, Roger, of Eutawville; Bridget Bessinger and her husband, Chuck, of Charleston; and Patricia Westbury and her husband, James, Sr. of Lexington; grandchildren – Kate Zimmerman and her husband, Pete, of Bakersfield, CA; Lee Hall and his wife, Carmen, of Minneapolis; Michael Kelly and his wife, Amber, of Sumter; Amber Wickers and her husband, Steven, of Lexington; James Westbury, Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of Lexington; Kelly Bessinger and Madeline Bessinger, both of Charleston; brother – Charles Britton and his wife, Valerie, of Goose Creek; three great grandchildren – Michael Hartsfield; Karl Zimmerman and James Westbury, III. In addition to her parents, she is predeceaed by two brothers - Eugene Cammer Britton and George McKenzie Britton, Jr., and a grandson - Joey Capps.
A memorial service for Mrs. Lambert will be held in Riverview Memorial Park Friday Morning, December 2, 2011, at 10:30 o'clock, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner.
