Dorothy Patton Denaro, 96, of Moncks Corner, widow of Louis Francis Denaro III, died Monday evening at her residence.
Born July 26, 1927 in Columbia, South Carolina, Dorothy was a daughter of Melvin Glenn Patton and Ruth Shirley Patton.
Her funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon, September 30, 2023, at Russell Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Biggin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the hour of service.
Dorothy had been an active member of Moncks Corner United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and attended Sunday school class. She graduated cum laude from Furman College and began her teaching career in Moncks Corner teaching English & French. She then moved to Walterboro to teach in the high school setting.
Mrs. Denaro was a member of D.A.R., U.D.C., P.E.O and American Legion Auxiliary Post 176. While married Mr. Denaro they moved 14 times, all over the United States. After he retired from John Deere, the traveled extensively. They would go to Portland Me. in the fall, California in winter, followed by trips to Las Vegas and Savannah.
She and Mr. Denaro started Tiverton Farms in Macbeth, S.C., where they had U Pick Blueberry Farm and a love for Camellias and Azaleas.
Survivors include a son- Frank Denaro and his wife Lynda, of Moncks Corner; a daughter- Maria Teresa Denaro, of Summerville; grandchildren- Louis F. Denaro V, of Moncks Corner and Nicole Denaro Culver and her husband, Grant, of Wichita Ks.; great grandchildren- John Andrew Culver, Annabelle Culver, Jackson Culver, Beau Culver and Bennett Culver. Dorothy is predeceased by two sisters- Eleanor Mayfield and Shirley Jasonek. The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers- Ebony Ross, Yolinda Richardson, Sheila Delee and Esther Pryor.
