Dewey Arnold Mixson

Dewey Arnold Mixson, 81, of Hanahan, retired owner of a mechanical contracting company, widower of Nancy Cox Mixson, passed away January 3, 2018.

Dewey was born January 19, 1936 in Berkeley County, a son of Robert Benjamin Mixson and Irene Mixon Mixson.

A cherished husband, father and friend who loved his family. He and his beloved wife, Nancy, served on the mission fields domestically and abroad. In later years, he became a chaplain for Berkeley County. His greatest passion was service to family and others. He left an extraordinary legacy for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are two daughters- Taryn M. Gowder of Goose Creek; Suzanne M. Clark and her husband, Robert, of Summerville; two sons- Jeff Mixson and his wife, Debra, of Bonneau; Kevin Mixson and his wife, Connie, of Goose Creek; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a brother- R.B. Mixson and his wife, Bernice, of Moncks Corner.

His funeral service will be held at Faith Assembly in Summerville, Wednesday afternoon, January 10, 2018, at 2 o’clock. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel on Tuesday evening, January 9, 2018 from 6 to 8 o’clock.
