Clyde E Berry

June 17, 1920 — September 21, 2011

Clyde Edward Berry, 91, of Moncks Corner, widower of Kathleen Whitfield Berry, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning, September 21, 2011.

Mr. Berry was born in Mayesville, S.C., on June 17, 1920. He was the son of the late Daniel Arthur Berry and Emma Burns Berry. He was predeceased by four brothers: John L. Berry, Arthur C. Berry, Paul Berry and Isaac Berry; and two sisters: Juanita Berry and Emma Berry Mitchell. He is survived by two nephews: Billy Mitchell and David Mitchell, both of Florence, S.C. He left behind many close friends and special caregivers who loved him and became attached to him because of his caring and loving nature.

Mr. Berry was a World War II Navy veteran. After his discharge from the military, he continued in service to his country at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He became the Electrical Battery Supervisor for the shipyard, supporting submarine battery change outs in strategic locations throughout the world. He was recognized as an expert in his field and received many awards during his more than 40 year career.

Mr. Berry lived in Berkeley County most of his life and was a member of First Baptist Church in Moncks Corner. In his later years, he faced many health issues as a true warrior. Mr. Berry touched many lives during his life and had a caring heart and gentle nature that emitted God’s love to others. He will be truly missed but is now safe in the hands of God away from the pain and cares of this world.

Funeral services for Mr. Berry were held Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 3:00 P.M. in RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL in Moncks Corner. Visitation was from 1:30 until the hour of service. Interment with military honors was in Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens.
