Claude Hydrick

January 18, 1938 — April 11, 2021

Thomas Claude Hydrick, 83, of St. Stephen passed away Sunday morning April 11, 2021.

Claude was born January 18, 1938 in Augusta, Georgia, a son of Verdis E. Hydrick and Nell Neville Hydrick.

A devoted man of God and husband to his wife Sydney of 58 years, Claude was also a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Having received a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry, Claude spent 65 years preaching The Gospel. He served as the minister of First Christian Church of Hampton for 18 years and has spent the last 8 years preaching and ministering at Betaw Christian Church in St. Stephen.

Claude spent many years serving as a counselor at Camp Edisto Christian Church Camp, where he made a difference in the lives of many children across the state of South Carolina. He loved to “make a joyful noise”; therefore, was never asked to sing in any church choirs, his family is happy that he will forever sing in “Heavens Choir”.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons- Thomas Scott Hydrick of Meggett; Richard Eugene Hydrick and his wife, Dana, of Bonneau and James Robert “Jimmy” Hydrick of St. Stephen; a brother- Eugene “Gene” Hydrick and his wife, Alice, of Kensington, Ohio; sister- Patricia Hydrick Rhodes and her husband, Bob, of Sebring, Fl.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Claude’s life will be held at Betaw Christian Church, 2941 Santee River Road, St. Stephen, SC 29479, Wednesday morning, April 14, 2021 at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in Russellville Christian Church Cemetery, Russellville SC. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel Tuesday evening, April 13, 2021 from 5 to 7 o’clock.
