Charley "Chuck" Bunton

Charley “Chuck” Lee Bunton, 89, of Moncks Corner first married to the late Jean Smith Bunton, husband of Mary Thompson Bunton passed away Tuesday July 6, 2021.

Chuck was born July 9, 1931 in Allendale, South Carolina a son of Edward Lee Bunton and Georgia Barnes Bunton.

A 1949 graduate of St. Stephen High School, Chuck served over 20 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean Era as well as Vietnam before retiring. He was a Free Mason- Lodge 269 and a life member and past Commander of VFW 9509. Chuck enjoyed go-cart and car racing, spending time in his shop doing woodwork and tending to his cats.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary, are a son- Dennis Bunton and his wife, Wanda, of Moncks Corner; a daughter- Cheryl Peagler and her husband, Ronald, of Macedonia; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 step children- Kimberly Haynes and her husband, Billy, of Moncks Corner; Jeff Green of Michigan and Patrick Mulholland of Moncks Corner; 3 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren; sisters- Mary Ann Keenan and her husband, Vaughn, of Barnwell; Frances Larson and her husband, Ray, of Moncks Corner; brother- George “Bo” Bunton of Bonneau. In addition to his parents and first wife, Chuck is predeceased by a son- Danny Bunton and 2 step sons- Roger Green, Jr. and Brian Mulholland.

His funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Saturday July 10, 2021 at 12 o’clock. Interment, with military honors, to follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel from 11 o’clock until the hour of service.
