Charles E. Spigelmire Iii

August 21, 1932 — July 22, 2015

Charles E. Spigelmire III, a long time resident of Moncks Corner, died on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015, at the age of 82 ,at The Life Care Center of Charleston, where he had been a resident for the past year.

He is survived by his Sister, Mrs. Mary Jo Tecce of Wellesley, MA and Brother Lieutenant General Michael F. Spigelmire, US Army, Retired, of Destin, FL.

A memorial Mass followed by a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 11 o'clock on the eighth of August, 2015 at Saint Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Moncks Corner.


A graduate of Loyola High School and College in Baltimore MD, Charlie had a full and interesting life. Service with the 101st Airborne Division was followed by numerous business interests. Such varied fields as Riding Instructor, Maryland EMT specialist, and sales representative for several nationally known food and pharmaceutical companies. The majority of his career was devoted to the Rural Electrification Agency, Department of Agriculture. Throughout his life he was active in the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and other Volunteer organizations.

Upon retirement to Moncks Corner, he and his wife Heidi were active participants in Community and Church projects. He was seen frequently as a tour Guide at Patriots Point and Mepkin Abbey. His absence will leave a void in the community.
