Charles Harvey Cypress Sr., 80, of Bonneau, husband of Julia “Sissy”Hood Cypress, passed away September 28, 2021.
Charles was born on September 25, 1941, in Charleston, SC, the son of Johnny Cypress and Iva Marie Ackerman Cypress.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Charles was admired by all who knew him.He and Sissy were married for 55 years, and loved sharing their life together in the Bonneau Community surrounded by family and friends. In his earlier years, he loved going fishing, working on cars and sharing the story about how he saw Elvis. He was a member of the Charleston Boxing Club, and earned a brown belt. He was employed by Georgia Pacific Lumber as a receiving clerk. Later in life, he enjoyed sitting on his front porch in his rocking chair, exploring the world on cruises, watching old westerns and Fox News on TV. He shared many good times with his close friend and coffee drinking buddy, Larry Jo Thompson.
In addition to his wife, Sissy, Charles is survived by a son- Charles Cypress and his wife, Kimberly of North Augusta, three grandchildren- Olivia Cypress; Kayla Chavous; and Tyler Warrick.
He will truly be missed by his friends and family.
His funeral service will be held Sunday, October 3, 2021, 3pm at Russell Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held at Bonneau Baptist Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Russell Funeral Chapel from five to seven pm.
The family suggests that masks be worn for the services.
