Bryant William Wiggins, Jr., 83,of Supply, North Carolina, retired shipwright with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, husband of Christine Green Wiggins, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017.
Bryant was born August 24, 1933, in Charleston, a son of Bryant W. Wiggins, Sr. and Bernice V. Crawford Wiggins.
A US Army veteran, Bryant served in the Korean Conflict. He was of the Christian faith and was a former member of Oak Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church as well as Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was also a former Mayor of the Town of Bonneau.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters- Kathy Pope and her husband, Ken, of Bonneau; Carolyn Wood and her husband, Michael, of North Charleston; two sons- Timothy B. Wiggins and his wife, Debbie, of Walterboro; David W. Wiggins and his wife, Beth, of Florida; a step-son- William S. Smith and his wife, Nancy, of Holden Beach, NC; two grandsons- Jamie Biering of Clemson, SC and Kevin Pope of Phoenix Az.; two brothers- Sheldon Wiggins and his wife, Joyce, of Macedonia; Donald Wiggins of Macedonia; two sisters- Levenia Cooper of Bonneau; Dorothy Carpenter of Tennessee. He is predeceased by a grandson- Peter Thompson, Jr. and brothers Eugene and Carl Wiggins.
His funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner, May 15, 2017, at 1 o’clock. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Pentecostal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12 noon until the hour of service.
