Betty V. Fleming Buckles went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was a good Christian woman.
Family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner, one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Her burial in Biggin Cemetery will immediately follow.
Betty was born June 14, 1939, in Lake City, Florida. She graduated Columbia High School, Lake City, Florida, and worked for Witt Electric Co., in Lake City, Florida. Later in her career, she worked 24 years for the Moncks Corner Water Works, before retiring in 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner and attended St. Johns Baptist Church, Pinopolis, S.C.
The daughter of Charles Rudolph Fleming and Willie Mae Waters Fleming, she was predeceased by two sisters, Pearl Fleming and Wylene Fleming McNeil. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Oliver W. Buckles; a son, Craig A. Buckles, Moncks Corner; and a daughter, Charlotte B. Plemmons (Keith) of Charleston; along with three grandchildren whom she dearly adored, James Emil Plemmons of Baton Rouge, LA, and Margot Plemmons and Luanne Plemmons of Charleston, SC; and two sisters, Joann Moore and Barbara Lee of Lake City, Florida.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607.
