Alberta Brinson Ellington Ackerman

Alberta Brinson Ellington Ackerman, 88, of Summerville, first married to the late Lee Ellington and widow of Forrest Ackerman, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Hallmark Healthcare Center in Summerville.

Mrs. Ackerman was born October 24, 1926, in Bonneau, daughter of Thomas M. Brinson and Blanche Wyndham Brinson.

Mrs. Ackerman was a devout Christian and a member of Faith Assembly of God in Summerville. A retired nurse, she was in the first graduating class of the Berkeley County Hospital Practical Nursing School in 1954.

Surviving are sons – Paul Ellington of Summerville and Bill Ellington and his wife, Rhonda, of Paducah, KY; 4 grandchildren – Robert Ellington (Christy) of Anderson; James Ellington of Summerville; Kimberly Wilson (Scott) of Paducah, KY; and Kristen Hershberger (Menno) of Paducah, KY; one great-grandson – Dylan of Anderson; 5 great-granddaughters – Alexis of Anderson; MacKenzie, Audrey Paige, Elena, and Adlee Grace of Paducah, KY; two sisters - Shelvy Wilson of Bonneau and Jackie Jones of Gainsville, GA. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ida McCants.

Her funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Saturday afternoon, August 29, 2015, at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
