Albert Sven Hamn

Albert Sven Hamn, 72, a long time resident of Moncks Corner, passed away Friday March 4, 2016.

Mr. Hamn was born August 23, 1943, in Boston, Mass., son of Oscar V. Hamn and Marie Youngdale Hamn.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara Law Hamn for 51 years. Mr. Hamn was the loving father of daughters- Juanita Duerkop Robbins and her husband, Dr. Paul Robbins, of Moncks Corner; Dr. Janie Wilson and her husband, Eric Gordon, of Macon Ga.; Inga Bryant and her husband, Gary Bryant, Jr. of Belton; B.J. Brown and her husband, Kevin Brown, of Easley. He was the cherished grandfather of- Joshua Duerkop and his wife, Kate; Trent Robbins and his wife, Sarah; Evan Robbins; Melissa Robbins; Dr. Shauna Joye; Chas Wilson; Samantha Wilson; Jack Gordon; Will Gordon; Grace Gordon; Halee Bryant; Gary Bryant III; Payton Bryant; Madison Brown and Kamden Brown. He was also the proud great-grandfather of- Abraham Robbins. He will be fondly remembered by his sister- Marie Bowen of Boston. He was preceded in death by his older brother- Robert Hamn.

Mr. Hamn was a member of Pointe North Community Church. He proudly served 21 years in the United States Navy, primarily as a submariner, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Hamn graduated from Baptist College with a Bachelor of Science in accounting.

His funeral service will be held at Pointe North Community Church, Moncks Corner, Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2016, at 3 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Johns Baptist Church Cemetery, Pinopolis, with full military honors. Friends are invited to share their memories of Mr. Hamn with the family during visitation at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Saturday evening, March 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 o’clock.
