Prior to that he was a Youth Leader and Usher at First Baptist Church for 57 years. He worked with the Boy Scouts and also Little League baseball.

Mr. Boyt is survived by his wife, his sons, Johnny (Carroll) and Jamie (Lori) and daughter, Jennifer Abbott (Rob). He was so proud of his grandson, James, and his four granddaughters, Sarah Emily, Caroline, Rachel Abbott Snelling (Nick), and Samantha, and one great granddaughter, Hadleigh Snelling.
