Adolph “Hoppy” Hopgood, Jr., 68, of Moncks Corner, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012, at his residence.
Hoppy was born March 18, 1944, in Memphis, TN, the son of Adloph Hopgood, Sr., and Madeline Ivy Hopgood.
He was first employed with Hill’s Ambulance Service. During his service in law enforcement, he was a jailer and a detective with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, an officer and detective with Moncks Corner Police Department, and retired as an investigator with the Berkeley County Solicitor’s office.
Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn Burgamy Hopgood; 3 daughters – Angela Bowman and her husband, Jeff, of Ladson; Tina Zeigler and her husband, Jeff, of Bonneau; and Danielle Kennedy of North Charleston; 2 sisters – Patricia Bradley of Moncks Corner; and Diane Langston and her husband, Charles, of Moncks Corner; a nephew – Brad Michael Bradley; 7 grandchildren – Amber Jenkins; Bianca Marvin; Eric Kappeler and wife, Ashley; Corey Hardee; Kelby Hardee; Shelby Kennedy; Jade Kennedy; 3 great grandchildren – Angelina Jenkins; Damian Jenkins and Makenzie Kappeler.
A memorial service will be at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Saturday afternoon, October 20, 2012, at 2 o’clock. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL from 1 o’clock until the hour of service.
The family requests that memorials be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, S. C. 29605.
