EDWARDS, Acie Carlton, 85, of Pinopolis, retired Wood Procurement Manager with WestVaCo, passed away Monday,
October 8, 2012, at Hospice of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant.
Acie was born April 27, 1927, in Mt. Olive, N. C., the son of Wayne Edwards and Frankie Savage Edwards.
He was a faithful long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner, having served as a Deacon and an
Elder, and being active in many of the church activities. He was a graduate of N.C. State University and had served in the South
Pacific in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A Past Commander of the American Legion, he was a member of the Coastal
Council Board, the Lions Club, and was also a S. C. Registered Forester.
Surviving are his wife – Laura Surgeon Edwards; a daughter – Cindy E. Leopard and her husband, Mark, of Summerville; and
a grandson – Robert Carlton Robinson. He was preceded in death by a daughter – Kathryn Edwards Robinson.
His funeral service will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Thursday morning, October 11, 2012, at 11 o’clock.
Interment will follow in Biggin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL between 6 and 8 o’cloc
Wednesday evening.
