Alfred “Fred” Morris, 85, of Elgin, passed away Sunday June 27, 2021.
Fred was born February 5, 1936 in Huger, a son of Leroy Morris and Martha Augusta “Gussie” Morris.
Having worked as a general contractor, Fred’s experiences were in drywall and fabrication of houses and ceilings that were a true work of art. His co-workers often stated “he got more done in a few hours than most people did all day”. Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed listening to gospel and country music and fellowship meals with family and friends, he will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his three children- Warren Morris and his wife, Paula, of Elgin; Donna Morris Barnette and her husband, Kevin, of Moncks Corner; Jeri Lynn Phillips of Elgin; five grandchildren- Kevin Wadford and his wife, Jennifer; Kristy Morris; Ashly Morris; Brandon Morris and Jeffrey Phillips, Jr.; six great grandchildren- Jimmy Wadford; Maddison Wadford Gerkin and her husband, Bryan; Elle Jean Morris; Ryder Phillips; Dawson Phillips and Lennox Phillips; two sisters- Mary Thomas and Betty Brassell; three brothers- Vernon Morris; Carl Blease “CB” Morris Sr. and Earl Morris, Sr. In addition to his parents, Fred is predeceased by a son Jeffrey Phillips, Sr. as well as two brothers- Delphin Morris and Kenny Morris.
His funeral service will be held at Eccles United Methodist Church Cemetery, Huger, SC., Tuesday June 29, 2021 at 12 o’clock. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 o’clock until the hour of service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
